I attended a lecture/presentation by visiting artist Annette Lawrence and was struck by one of my peers' questions asking for a common theme that would tie all the work together, and his comments suggesting the artist's latest work was disparate. Ms. Lawrence patiently re-stated her interest in time as one of the common factors in all of her work.
The greatest common factor in my work is i. i as in self, and the imaginary. I make art about anything that I imagine, and whatever piques my interest. As an artist I am interested, and hope that my intrests result in work that is interesting.
I have never intended as an artist to create a lifetime of work that could solely be categorized by theme or style, though both of these things may be identifiable, and I intend to keep it that way.
So go ahead, call my work disparate, and I shall say Thank You.
